Sergio Garrido: Maduro is the incumbent president

The governor of the state of Barinas, Sergio Garrido, recognized the legitimacy of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, by stating “I cannot ignore him.”

Asked on a television program, who would he attend if Maduro and Juan Guaidó called him at the same time, he replied that the first.

“Nicolás Maduro is the president whether we like it or not. Juan Guaidó is the president in charge recognized by some countries in the world, but the truth is that you have to step on the ground, and reality tells me that Nicolás Maduro is the president who is in office. And I cannot ignore it ”, he affirmed.

He confirmed that he is willing to work without political biases. “Here we are not looking at colors or political overtones. Come collaborate to seek improvements in our state, ”he said.

On Tuesday the new board of directors of the Legislative Council was installed in the state of Barinas, which will swear in Garrido this Wednesday as governor of the entity.

In the midst of some impasses between the side of the revolutionary forces and the opposition, it was decided that the deputy Jesús Graterol will take the reins of the presidency of the entity; Maigualida Santana, vice president and Nelson Peña, secretary.

Graterol promised to legislate for the benefit of the people.
