Sergio Massa: “We are the ones who lower the income tax without promising it”

Already in campaign, the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massatoured the plant this Saturday Ford in General Pacheco, where he came to talk with the workers and shared a talk about the situation of the automotive sector, which according to official numbers had the best first semester since 2014.

During Massa’s visit, which lasted more than an hour, he was accompanied by the president of Ford Argentina, Martin Galdeanowho highlighted that the Ford plant in Pacheco was completely transformed, incorporating 4.0 manufacturing technologies and processes.

The head of the Treasury toured the assembly plant, observed the work of the operators, learned first-hand some technical details, and then sat down to talk on the importance of generating added value to productionand review the current situation of workers and the sector, which is going through a period of growth.

In this sense, the Minister of Economy affirmed; “we are the ones who lower the income tax without promising it“.

According to the latest report from the Association of Automotive Factories (ADEFA), the first half of the year closed with a year-on-year rise of 21.4% for the automotive sector. In the accumulated of the first six months of the year, 152,044 units were exported, 8.6% more than what was sent to various markets between January and June 2022.

Taking into account the first six months of the year 2023, sales to dealers were 206,861 units, an increase of 14.1% over the first half of last yearassures ADEFA.

The automotive industry and employment

ADEFA brings together thirteen automotive terminals that produce automobiles, light and heavy utility vehicles in Argentina; as well as transmission components, gearboxes and engines.

The performance of the automotive industry occurs in a context of expansion of registered industrial employment, which reached the highest level in the last five years. According to data from the Employment and Business Dynamics Observatory of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, formal industrial employment exceeded 1,186,400 employed persons in April 2023, and grew by 3.4% in year-on-year terms and 0. 2% compared to March of this year, which represents 21 months of consecutive growth.
