Juventus confirmed on Wednesday the departure of 34-year-old Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny after seven seasons at the club. The Turin club announced the termination of the contract by mutual consent.
“Contract terminated by mutual agreement: Wojciech Szczesny bids farewell to Juventus after seven seasons together” stated the press release. Before the European Cup, the Polish goalkeeper had already stated that he would leave Juventus even if his contract did not expire until 2025. Juventus, who have been coached by Thiago Motta since the summer, no longer count on him and have hired Michele Di Gregorio from Monza to replace him in goal. After completing his training at Arsenal, Szczesny was loaned to Burntford (November 2009 to May 2010) and Roma (2015 to 2017) before joining Juventus in 2017. The Polish goalkeeper played 252 games with the Bianconeri and won eight trophies: three championships (2018, 2019, 2020), three cups (2018, 2021, 2024) and two Italian Super Cups (2019, 2021 ). He also completed 103 games without conceding a goal.
