Serious damage to the El Olivo bridge caused kilometric congestion on Route 5 North | National

serious damage to the El Olivo Bridge forced to suspend transit through the viaduct, generating a kilometer block in the Route 5 North, at the height of The Calera.

A significant congestion caused a forced traffic diversion in the Route 5 North, due to serious damage to the olive tree bridge, at the height of the commune of The Calera.

According to images sent to BioBioChile, the viaduct has at least two beams with significant damage, just above the tracks that go south.

Therefore, as reported CNN Chile, a traffic diversion was arranged to prevent vehicles from traveling under the damaged bridge.

This caused a kilometer block because drivers coming from the north must enter La Calera to retake Route 60-CH.

At around 2:00 p.m., personnel from road to inspect the structure, without there being an official pronouncement from the technical entity so far.

Government evaluates alternatives to reduce taco

Who referred to what happened, was Humberto Lepe, provincial delegate(s) of Los Andes, who confirmed that alternatives are being evaluated to reduce congestion.

“The damage that the 60-CH footbridge has with Route 5 is quite significant, therefore the passage over that route will not be possible,” he said.

“We are evaluating how to keep the traffic below, in such a way as to avoid what is happening today, that the traffic that comes from north to south has to go through La Calera, which is causing quite a lot of congestion,” he added. Lepe.

“We hope tomorrow to have an alternative so that traffic coming from north to south does not have to enter La Calera and we can share the route,” he said.

In that sense, he warned that the repair work could take a long time, due to the complexity of the structural problem.

“What is going to take a much longer time is the repair of the union of these two routes. And therefore, for those who come from Santiago to Viña, they will not be able to use the footbridge, the same for those who go from Quillota to the north”, concluded the authority.
