A driver caused several collisions during the night from Saturday to Sunday on the E19 coming from the Netherlands towards Antwerp, police said on Sunday. The man eventually lost control of his car near Schoten and was seriously injured. He was then taken to hospital and will be questioned at a later date.
Only the driver was injured in the incident. The other people involved suffered material damage, and some are in a state of shock.
