A 40-year-old motorist lies between life and death following a serious road accident that occurred Monday morning on Notre-Dame Street East in Montreal.
The violent collision, the circumstances of which remained unclear in the middle of the morning, occurred around 9:15 a.m., at the corner of Notre-Dame Est and Davidson streets, in the east of the city.

For some reason still unknown, a car and a semi-trailer truck collided, while traffic is particularly heavy at this time of day.
The impact was brutal. Firefighters used rescue pliers to extricate the motorist from the wreckage of his vehicle.

He suffered multiple fractures and head trauma. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition.
The truck driver was not injured.

A portion of rue Notre-Dame Est has been completely closed in both directions for the purpose of a police investigation. This closure caused a huge traffic jam in the area.
