Service Interruptions on the Metropolitan Express Network: Updates, News, and Shuttle Bus Alternatives

2023-08-03 00:08:48

The Metropolitan Express Network (REM) was shut down Wednesday morning at 5:30 a.m., scheduled time for the first trips of the day, before gradually resuming service between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.

On the third day of REM service between Montreal and the South Shore, no train departed as scheduled at the start of the day. The REM’s prime contractor, CDPQ Infra, has therefore deployed a shuttle bus service with its partners using the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge to transport users between Brossard and Montreal.

In a brief written communication, CDPQ Infra explained that a computer problem at the control center had disrupted the starting of the cars, causing a service interruption in both directions.

Monday morning, a service interruption had immobilized the trains for an hour and 15 minutes. A partial shutdown of service, caused by a referral problem, was reported around 8 a.m.; the trains then came to a complete stop 30 minutes later. Another outage occurred late Monday evening.
