Sète: borrow a work of art and exhibit it at home

The Calamartothèque is organizing its back-to-school exhibition this Sunday at the Tarbouriech room from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Created in 2016 and chaired by Claire Giordano artist and professor at the Beaux-Arts and Miam, the association La Calamartothèque is back. Since yesterday and today again, in the Tarbouriech room, some of the works available for loan for a period of four months have been exhibited. This is also the time when members bring back the borrowed painting, photo or sculpture and come and collect the work they have chosen. The principle is that of a library and works with a membership (15 to 30 €). It aims to bring together artists and art lovers in order to promote the Sète art scene and create links.

The association has 74 members, artists and inhabitants, some very faithful to the image of Marie-Caroline and Philippe who, for four years, have been borrowing works of art. “With our daughter, we each choose three works a year in our turn. We have a place in the living room and we learn to live with them. We forget them, we rediscover them, we look at themsays Philip. Some leave an empty place, pursues his wife. We were very much in love with the cast iron sculptures – women à la Botero – by Marie-Claire Esposito. We borrowed them all and when the last one left, I missed it!” Magali, a school teacher, also consulted her daughter. His choice fell on an abstract and colorful canvas by Brigitte Eyraud “Soul in peace”.

Today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visible works this way Those that are on loan are indicated by a red circle.
