Seven bodies were found Monday in the town of Henryetta, south of Tulsa, Oklahoma (south-central United States) during a police search for two missing teenage girls who were allegedly seen with a sex offender, reported US media citing authorities.

On Monday, Oklahoma police issued a wanted notice for Ivy Webster, 14, and Brittany Brewer, 16, as well as Jesse L. McFadden, 39, a nationally registered sex offender. The two teenagers were seen with him in a white Chevrolet Avalanche.

The seven bodies have not been identified and authorities have not officially clarified whether they include those of the missing girls. But everything seems to indicate it, according to several media, quoting Okmulgee County Sheriff Eddy Rice: “We think we have found the people. We are awaiting confirmation”.

Homicide investigation opened

The search for the teenagers has been officially suspended. “There are no more suspects wanted, and therefore no more fear for the community,” added Gerald Davidson, spokesman for the Oklahoma Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Eddy Rice added that an investigation had been opened into the homicides and that the families of the teenagers had been notified.

The bodies were found on the property, where previously convicted sexual assault offender Jesse L. McFadden resided, “but not in the house.”

In a communiqué, the high school where the two teenagers studied said: “Our hearts are bleeding. (…) There will be course. And it will be very difficult. We will have mental health professionals and religious representatives available to students. But we will understand if you prefer to keep your child at home. Have a thought and a prayer for the families”.

Jesse L. McFadden was scheduled to appear in court in Muskogee County on Monday on charges including “child pornography and attempting to solicit sexual conduct or communication with a minor using technology,” according to the New York Times. He did not appear in court on Monday morning and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
