In recent months, a wave of nostalgia has touched the first iPhone, which has reached its 16th birthday. And given the fairly high prices of certain models, auctions are multiplying on this mythical model which is not so rare. The latest has four 1st-gen models up for auction, including a fairly rare model with just 4GB of storage.

L’iPhone 4 Go sous blister.

A new iPhone “Edge” sold for $63,000 at auction

In the small world of “EDGE” iPhones, price and valuation do not correlate with capacity, at least not in the usual sense. Indeed, the iPhone with 16 GB — still in blister pack — is estimated at $20-30,000 with a starting price of $2,500. A second model with 8GB of storage is estimated at $45-65,000 ($5,000 initially). But the highlight of the sale is obviously a 4 GB model : the starting price is $10,000 and the estimate between $50 and $100,000.

The icons differ on the boxes (8 GB, 16 GB, 8 GB European).

Why these differences? Because the 4 GB iPhone was only sold for a few months, from June 29 to September 7, 2007. The 8 GB model was offered throughout the life of this model, while the he 16 GB iPhone only appeared in February 2008, a few months before the release of the iPhone 3G. On the photos, we can also notice that the icons on the illustration of the box of the 16 GB model are not the same as on the two older models.

A last model is offered at auction: an iPhone 8 Go in blister pack, but in its european version. It therefore dates from November 2007, again with a slightly different illustration. It is estimated at $10-20,000 with a starting price of $2,500. Finally, note that you will find some toys from the 80s in the same sale, with for example a GI Joe figurine (Snake Eyes) which is obviously worth the same as a European iPhone.
