Several People Are Trapped in an ICON Park Attraction – NBC Orlando (31)

Several people are trapped in an attraction at Orlando’s ICON park after a power outage Saturday night.

The incident occurred on New Year’s Eve night at the Ferris wheel attraction, during which 20 wheel modules were occupied by people.

“La Noria lost power Saturday night and we are working with the Orange County Fire Department to evacuate customers safely,” the Orange County Fire Department said.

Currently, rescue personnel have begun to evacuate the passengers trapped in the Ferris wheel, turning the attraction manually so that the passengers get out safely.

During a press conference, which took place around 9:20 pm, the Orange County Fire Department Division Chief said it will take 10 to 15 minutes to lower each module.

According to firefighters, none of the people are in danger.

The exact cause of the blackout remains under investigation.

This is the latest incident at the Orlando amusement park in recent years, including the death of 14-year-old Tire Sampson earlier this year, who fell off the Orlando Free Fall attraction in March.

This is developing news.
