Severe blow to Adil Raja, fined 10 thousand pounds – Pakistan

Pakistani YouTuber Adil Raja has lost his appeals filed by Brigadier (retd) Rashid Naseer in a defamation case filed against him in a British court.

Adil Raja failed in his application to dismiss the defamation case against him, after which the court ordered Adil Raja to pay Brigadier (retd) Rashid Naseer 2 applications, an injunction in the defamation case and security costs. Pay 10 thousand pounds.

The court held that Adil Raja defamed Brigadier Retd Rashid Naseer in 9 of his Twitter/X, Facebook and YouTube publications.

According to British court documents, controversial YouTuber Adil Raja suffered a major setback in the British High Court when the judge rejected all his petitions, including the defamation suit filed by former senior army officer Brigadier (retd) Rashid Naseer. A request for injunction is also included in the case.

Deputy High Court Judge Mr. Richard Spearman KC ordered that Adil Farooq Raja pay 5,000 pounds to the retired brigadier.

Adil Raja has been given time till April 17, 2024 to pay this amount.

Adil Raja appeared before the court through video link through his lawyer and PTI UK leader Mehtab Anwar Aziz.

Adil Raja argued that the trial of Brigadier Rashid Naseer should be stayed for several reasons, but the court rejected all his arguments.

Adil Raja’s baseless allegations were trashed by a British judge and termed as baseless and false.

As a result of the judge’s ruling, Adil Raja will now have to present evidence to prove each and all of his allegations are true.

In a separate petition, Adil Raja requested the court to order Brigadier (Retd) Rashid Naseer to deposit 250,000 pounds as security for the legal expenses.

But the judge agreed with the lawyers of Brigadier (R) Rashid Naseer while rejecting this request as well.

In his application, Adil Raja also requested to keep his witnesses confidential during the hearing, but the court agreed with the arguments of Brigadier (r) Rashid Naseer’s lawyers.

Adil Raja suffered another blow when in a separate petition he pleaded with the court to dismiss the claim of Brigadier (r) Rashid Naseer on the ground that he had not suffered any serious harm.

The judge did not entertain this plea and adjourned Adil Raja’s plea with the consent of Brigadier (r) Rashid Naseer’s lawyers.

Adil Raja started his campaign against the officer on 14 June 2022 through tweets and videos on YouTube and Facebook.

According to information obtained from court documents, retired Brigadier Rashid filed his case on August 11, 2022 through his UK lawyers.
