DUBLIN – Heavy rain is expected across Ireland today (June 18), according to the Met Office. Cloudy weather will be experienced along with rain. The rain will start in the followingnoon with strong winds and continue till the evening. People have been advised to be cautious as there is a possibility of thunder and lightning. There is a possibility of water logging in some places. The Met Office said there was also a chance of hail.

The maximum temperature will be between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius. Weather warnings were issued in regarding 20 counties of the country last day due to rain with wind and thunder. The warning was issued in Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo.

The Met Office in the UK has warned that there is a risk of wind and thunderstorms in parts of Northern Ireland today between 12pm and 9pm. A yellow warning has been issued for Antrim, Armagh, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry. Flash flooding can cause traffic disruptions and some temporary road closures.

Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, train and bus services may be delayed or cancelled.
