Severe thunderstorms and hail hit the Quebec region

After the Laurentians and Lanaudière, the greater Quebec City region was shaken by violent storms which caused hail and a few power outages on Sunday evening.

The citizens of Saint-Agapit, on the South Shore of Quebec, had to negotiate with hailstorms. According to the information, the winds might reach 110 kilometers / hour in certain sectors, in particular in Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval and Château-Richer.

“The main threat is hail and high winds,” said Maxime Desharnais, Environment Canada meteorologist.

The town of Saint-Agapit was notably hit by hail. Impactful images have been posted on social media, showing the scale of the storm.

Power outages were also recorded in Beaupré and Portneuf. At the height of the crisis, 1,803 customers lost power in Beaupré and L’Ange-Gardien. In Portneuf, residents of Saint-Basile and Deschambault-Grondines also suffered the repercussions of the storms.
