The truck offering is expanding in Morocco. The Chinese Shacman, a giant in the construction of heavy utility vehicles, has just officially announced its entry into the national market, in partnership with the Premium group through its subsidiary Léopold Bérenger. In addition to the distribution of trucks in Morocco and West Africa, the new collaboration between the two groups also includes their assembly in Morocco. According to the two partners, it meets the growing demand for heavy goods vehicles on the national market with a competitive offer with high added value.
“This cooperation aims to satisfy the increase in demand for trucks in Morocco and to stimulate the economic development of the country,” indicated Eric Lefort, CEO of the Premium Group, during the official presentation ceremony of the new partnership, organized on 18 last October in Skhirat. “The local assembly of the Shacman X6000 highlights the skills of Morocco’s manufacturing industry while promoting job creation for the local population,” he explained, specifying that the assembly is carried out Berrechid in a unit that currently has a single line, but with a goal of three lines in the future.
Pour Tian Chao, CEO of Shacman, this partnership is an important step in the development of his group in Africa. “It will allow us to strengthen our presence in Africa in general and more specifically in North Africa,” he said.
The formalization of the Shacman/Premium partnership in Skhirate was also the opportunity to present the new X6000, the first Shacman truck assembled in Morocco. Already available in Asia, the vehicle is considered, according to its manufacturer, as the “most powerful truck in the world”, with a 16.6 liter Cummins diesel engine, the whole is associated with a 16-speed automatic transmission offering power of 800 horsepower. “The X6000 is the result of continuous research and development which aims to offer innovative solutions adapted to the needs of transport companies in order to allow them to have a competitive offer with high added value,” says Shacman.
