SHADES OF GRAY: Why gray is popular again – Martina Berg

Not every trend suits me and not every trend is worth mentioning on my blog. My blog features wearable fashion for women 50plus. Trends come and go, especially with colors. One color is currently on everyone’s lips, in many magazines and especially on social media channels – GRAY.

I really like this trend, regardless of whether it is IN or OUT. Gray is and remains a stylish, classic color that is anything but inconspicuous. Gray has been in my wardrobe for as long as I can remember, even as a teenager I liked wearing this non-color.

Why is gray so trendy?

Gray is often mentioned as a boring color. For me, however, it is the epitome of noble, classic and unobtrusive elegance. A complete look in gray exudes something fine and light. For me, a completely gray look is a classic style that gives every lady that little something extra. It doesn’t have to be much to stand out from the crowd. The certain chic and personality of the wearer is what makes a look.

Graues Outfit

Monochromer Look in Grau

I discovered my knitted three-piece suit in the shop window in Bolzano while strolling through town. I fell in love at first sight again when I discovered this ensemble. I didn’t try anything on other than the jacket because I knew it would definitely fit me in size S/M. A purchase that was completed in 10 minutes, which amazed the saleswoman. Since I liked the jacket so much, I also bought it in dark blue.

Gray knitted three-piece suit

It’s incredibly easy for me to put together new outfits with these three basic pieces. The trousers can be combined with all blouses and jumpers. The knitted coat goes with any trousers, dresses, jeans and leather trousers. The sweater is either worn simply next to the skin, or I combine it with a blouse underneath. These three items of clothing are basic pieces that I will definitely enjoy for a long time.

Is gray the new black?

I can’t imagine my wardrobe without black. People are currently reading that gray will replace black – but I can’t imagine it at all. What is advantageous about gray is the different shades of this non-color. There are so many shades of gray, which means gray is always a great fashion companion, even in light and dark shades.

The top in a light gray can look particularly stylish with dark gray trousers. A business look that, with the right accessories and shoes, is a preferred and popular outfit in many areas.

Combine gray

If you don’t want to commit to the complete gray look, you can combine different shades of gray with delicate pastel tones.

  • Red and gray is and remains an eye-catcher. A red blazer with gray trousers and a gray turtleneck is one of my favorites if you don’t want the look to be completely gray.
  • Light grey, white and black – a never ending story.
  • Silver and gray – an eye-catcher for the evening.
  • Gray and light blue – greetings from the Ice Queen.
  • Beige and gray – seen in many magazines at the moment. I haven’t tried it myself yet.

You see, a lot is possible with the non-color gray. I’m a big fan of it, how do you feel about it?

If you need new gray inspiration, at the end of the article I have put together great pieces from various online shops for you.

“Elegance doesn’t mean catching the eye,
but to remain in memory.”
