Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth: Supporting Palestinian Children & Promoting Creative Values

The management of the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth, in its tenth session this year, announced that the profits of this session will be allocated to the children of the Palestinian people as a result of the unfortunate events taking place in Palestine and the Zionist entity’s forces continuing to bomb civilians and killing thousands.

Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, director of the festival, revealed cooperation with a charitable organization to support the children of Palestine, and all its profits were allocated to the benefit of the Palestinian people.

Jawaher also stressed in her speech about the festival that it has become a source of inspiration for future generations and that it is a global platform capable of promoting the creative values ​​of our children and youth in various parts of the Arab world, in addition to empowering those with talent, saying: “The festival has been transformed thanks to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed.” Al Qasimi, to be a unique model in the local and Arab cultural scene that celebrates the cinema of children and young people, to reflect the extent of the ability of the festival and its films to make positive change in all of our lives.”

She added: “We celebrate the entry of the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth into its tenth year, as in this session we tell more than 80 stories in many different languages ​​and dialects, and we learn about stories that represent cultural bridges during which we learn about other societies and diverse viewpoints and discover different facts, which confirms that Cinema is a fine means of enlightening and educating people.”

A number of honorees were keen to deliver a speech on the occasion of their honor, including the great artist, Hussein Fahmy, who thanked His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi and the festival management for honoring him with the Achievement Award at the Arab level.

The festival opened its tenth session with the short animated film “The Zoo” by director Tariq Rimawi, after the film won the “Best Animated Short Film” award at the Bahrain Film Festival.

The activities of the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth will be held in its tenth session this year from 22 to 28 October.
