Shawmut Positions Itself for Growth in New York City’s Expanding Construction Market
Following years of strategizing, Shawmut, the Boston-based construction manager, is hitting the accelerator on its presence in New York City’s sophisticated construction market. Now with a strengthened large project division, Shawmut is poised to grab a larger slice of New York’s most ambitious projects.
Leading the charge is Charlie Avolio, formerly president and general manager of Suffolk’s successful New York division, who joined Shawmut in 2021. Since then, the team has focused on growing its expertise in key sectors like education, commercial, healthcare, and life sciences.
“The large project division is a key element of Shawmut’s strategy to grow market share in large-scale projects,” stated Avolio. This includes increasing the size and scope of its projects across established sectors like hospitality, sports venues, culture, and retail.
