Sheinbaum gives the reasons why AMLO’s electricity reform should be approved

The Head of the Capital Government, Claudia Sheinbaumpointed out that the electrical reform proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador returns to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) the long-term planning capacity of the national electricity sector and lays the foundations for the energy transition with the well-being of the people of Mexico in mind.

In a video message broadcast this Sunday at the Forum on the electrical reform organized by the Student Peasant Worker Coalition of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (COCEI), in Juchitán, Oaxaca, Sheinbaum indicated that a proposal that recovers national sovereignty in the electricity sector is in the hands of Congress.

“Each deputy, each deputy, each senator, each senator, today has in their hands the possibility of going down in history, of thinking of their children, of thinking of their grandchildren, of not thinking of an immediate present, but on the contrary , think about what they are going to leave to future generations”, he indicated.

Sheinbaum He said that in 2013, during the presidency of Enrique Peña Nieto, the Constitution was changed and control over the dispatch of electrical energy was taken away from the CFE and the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) had the power to grant permits for the production electrical.

He pointed out that the Self-Supply Societies generate electricity and are connected to the Transmission Network of the CFE without paying for the transmission of said electricity to later sell it to small consumers, which really constitutes a privatization that was justified under the argument that renewable energy sources are thus promoted.

The head of the capital government He said that companies do not have to be afraid of the electrical reform, simply what is being shown, with this reform and its approval, is that Mexico is a free country and is a sovereign country.
