A solution to fast charging anxieties

The transition to electric vehicles is underway, but one major hurdle still holds many consumers back: fast-charging anxiety. Indeed, the fear of not finding a charging station nearby or of having to wait a long time before being able to leave is a major obstacle to the adoption of electric vehicles. It is in this context that CATL, the Chinese battery giant and main supplier of Tesla, has unveiled Shenxing. This battery is capable of “recharging” up to 400 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes. A feat that could well put an end to the concerns of users.

Moreover, Shenxing does not just charge quickly. It also offers an impressive range of over 700 km on a single full charge. So not only will users be able to quickly charge their vehicle, but they will also be able to travel long distances without having to worry about charging.

Shenxing battery is able to recover 80% charge in just 30 minutes

Beyond its fast charging capability, Shenxing also stands out for its performance in varied conditions. At room temperature, it can be charged to 80% capacity in 10 minutes. But CATL didn’t stop there. Using cell temperature control technology, Shenxing can achieve 80% charge in just 30 minutes, even at temperatures as low as -10°C. This feature guarantees optimal charging performance, even in adverse weather conditions.

Mass production of Shenxing is scheduled for the end of 2023, and the first vehicles equipped with this revolutionary battery should be available on the market from the first quarter of 2024. With competitors like BYD gaining ground, CATL is betting big on Shenxing to regain its leadership position in the EV battery market. Only time will tell if this innovation will be the key to success for CATL, but one thing is certain: Shenxing has the potential to transform an entire industry.
