ROME – The NGO ship Geo Barents, operated by Doctors Without Borders (MSF), has rescued 599 people who were traveling on an overcrowded fishing boat off the coast of Sicily. The rescue operation was coordinated by the Italian authorities, the NGO announced on Saturday. The ship was assigned Bari as a port of call.
