Shipwreck at sea, one crew member missing

On the morning of February 8, Man Quang Border Guard Station (Son Tra Border Post, Da Nang Border Guard Command) said that it was searching for fishermen missing in a shipwreck at sea.

Accordingly, the fishing boat QNg 41464 led by Mr. Le Van Hen (42 years old, ship owner cum captain) disembarked at 9 a.m. on February 6 at Man Quang Border Guard Station.

On the boat were 2 fishermen, including Mr. Hen and Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang (39 years old, living in Tuy Hai commune, Ninh Hai district, Ninh Thuan province).

At 9:30 p.m. on February 7, the ship entered Da Nang to sell fish, approached buoy number 0 (coordinates 16.08 degrees north latitude, 108.12 degrees east longitude) when a collision occurred with the cargo ship Mai Duong 126.

The collision caused the ship to be broken, and after 10 minutes, it completely sank. Captain Le Van Hen was rescued and brought ashore by fishing boat BD 40455 operating nearby.

The ship Mai Duong 126 organized a search for the remaining fishermen, but there were no results.

According to information from the authorities, the cargo ship Mai Duong 126 has 9 crew members of An Phuc Maritime Co., Ltd living in An Lu commune, Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong city) led by Mr. Le Danh Tung. At the time of the collision, the ship was traveling from Vung Tau to Da Nang.

Upon receiving the news, the functional forces mobilized the speedboat MS50 BP 081502 with 10 officers and soldiers and fishing boats in the area to coordinate in searching for fisherman Nguyen Huy Hoang.

According to Mr. Hen, it is likely that the fisherman Hoang was trapped in the cabin of the sunken ship.
