Menoufia Governorate, north of Cairo, witnessed a horrific crime, where a father killed his neighbor’s child after torturing him, and dumped his body in a deserted place.
According to the Menoufia Security Directorate, the Shebin El-Kom Police Station received a report from a resident of the village of Al-Batanoun that his child, Reda Ahmed, 7 years old, had disappeared after he was playing in front of the house.
A security source told Sky News Arabia that a search team was formed and found the child killed, handcuffed, and thrown in an abandoned house on the outskirts of the village.
The source explained that forensic medicine proved that the child’s body had traces of strangulation in the neck and abrasions indicating that he had been beaten and tortured, which caused his death.
The source added that the police found that the perpetrator was a neighbor of the victim’s child’s father, and upon arresting the accused, he confessed to committing the crime as punishment and discipline for the victim because he had quarreled with his son earlier.
The security source noted that the defendant’s confessions included that he asked his son to lure the victim under the pretext of playing together, then tied him up, beat him, and strangled him to discipline him, but he died, so he disposed of his body where it was found.
According to the source, the police also arrested the accused’s two children after investigations confirmed their involvement in the crime, and the accused were referred to the prosecution.
The prosecution authorized the burial of the child victim’s body, and his funeral was held on Thursday evening in a large funeral. A state of great resentment prevailed among the people of the village of Al-Batanoun due to the ugliness of the crime.
