After a long illness journey experienced by the late artist Abdel Halim Hafez, he returned from London carried on his shoulders in 1977.

At that time, his body arrived at Cairo airport at three in the morning, on an Egyptian plane.

On board were Mrs. Nahla Al-Qudsi, lawyer Magdy Al-Amrousy, Abdel Halim Alia Shabana’s sister, and her cousin Shehata.

The body was received at the airport by two brothers, Nightingale Ismail and Muhammad Shabana, and a large number of artists, led by Baligh Hamdi.

As well as Sayed Ismail, Hussein Kamal, as well as Mr. Mohammed Al-Bassam, the media attaché at the Saudi Embassy.

The body of the late was scheduled to be transferred to Maadi Hospital, and from there in the morning to Omar Makram Mosque.

Special arrangements were made for the funeral of Abdel Halim to his final resting place.

Within an intense security department, the funeral of al-Tarab went step by step from the Omar Makram Mosque, to Tahrir Square, to the Sharkas Mosque.

and Mr. Mamdouh Salem, Prime Minister and Ministers, in addition to a large number of Arab ambassadors.

Immediately behind the ministers were a number of artists whose voices were mixed with sobs of crying, including Baligh Hamdi, Muhammad Al-Mouji, and Muhammad Sultan.

And also the director Hussein Kamal, Hassan Al-Imam, and the lawyer of the deceased, Magdi Al-Amrousy.

As for the musician, Muhammad Abd al-Wahhab, he failed to walk behind the coffin by order of the doctors because of the shock he suffered upon hearing the news.

And Nadia Lotfi was the only artist who participated in the funeral, despite the request of the deceased’s family that the artists not participate, so as not to be subjected to crowds of fans during the funeral procession.

In front of the Sharkas Mosque, the green car set off with Abdel Halim’s coffin to the orchards area, after he bid farewell to the tears of millions.

Abdel Halim was buried in a cemetery he bought his land 17 years before his death and did not approve of its construction until 45 days before his death.
