HOUSTON — Shohei Ohtani hit 41 home runs on the season to lead the American League, and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Houston Astros 2-1 on Sunday to avoid a sweep in a three-game series.
Ohtani’s first homer since Aug. 3 put the Angels up 2-0 in the sixth. Houston cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom half, but the Los Angeles team finally got some help from its pitching staff following losing the first two games of the series 11-3.
