Avatar Kishan Hangal, who played the role of Rahim Cha Cha in the famous Indian film Sholay, was born in the year 1914 in Sialkot, Pakistan.
AK Hingal is known by fans as a famous actor but before becoming a part of the Indian film industry, he was a talented tailor who excelled in cutting clothes.
According to BBC, AK Hingal’s mother died when he was a child and he was raised by his elder sister.
Hingal opened a tailor shop on Elphinstone Street, now known as Oxford Street in Karachi. According to AK Hingal, his vision of Karachi was that it was a modern and economic center where roads were wide and footpaths were built.
But even after going to Karachi, AK Hingal’s shop could not run. And finally he had to close this shop, one day a friend told him that a big company in the city, Essar Das & Sons, had a cutter ) set is empty.
He went there dressed well, the owner saw that he was an educated person and so he employed Hingal with four hundred rupees per month and he became the chief cutter.
According to the BBC, when AK Hingal accepted the philosophy of class division under communist ideology, he first saw discrimination in his factory, where there was no weekly holiday or medical leave and the working hours were not clear.
It was the first strike of tailors in Karachi in 1946, led by the head of the tailors’ union, AK Hangal, who later became a famous Bollywood actor and played the role of Rahim Chacha in the film Sholay, in which his dialogue ‘Atna’ Sunata kevin hai bhai’ became famous.
