At least six people have been killed and nine others injured in a shooting in the California state capital Sacramento. The incident occurred early in the morning in an area where many bars and restaurants are located. The arrests and the reason for the shooting have not yet been reported.
“Police officers located at least 15 victims of the shooting, including 6 dead,” Sacramento Police said in a Twitter statement. Police provided few details about the circumstances of the shooting, but said “a large police presence will remain and the scene remains active.”
A video posted to Twitter shows people fighting in the street and then running away when gunfire was heard.
Several ambulances were sent to the scene. The police blocked the streets around the London nightclub.
