2023-11-17 11:11:52

On November 24, the Repair Shop will offer to thumb its nose at waste and overconsumption by offering citizens the chance to have their everyday objects diagnosed and repaired free of charge: toaster, lamp, pants, coffee maker, small loose furniture and Moreover.

For this sixth edition, new objects can be repaired, including bicycles, computers and telephones. Repair avoids waste, but also expenses that we cannot always afford.

“This event is a great example of solidarity, sharing and discovery. This year, you will even have the opportunity to learn more about maintaining your computers and phones thanks to the presence of Econext Informatique and, for those waiting their turn, to learn more about climate change thanks to at the Fresque Quiz”, underlines Auriane Schiewe, circular economy advisor and responsible for the event.

“We hope to offer as many people as possible the opportunity to respite in expenses while having a positive impact on the environment. On the environmental level, we reduce landfilling, while on the social level, we fight against insecurity by avoiding buying new things, then we create new links by coming into contact with strangers who wish to help us. adds Lauréanne Daneau, general director of Environnement Mauricie.

In the past, more than 320 items have been repaired by more than 80 different volunteers.

The Repair Shop will be held at the Maison de la solidarité (1060, rue Saint-François-Xavier, door 4).

For people who cannot participate, Environnement Mauricie reminds that its team has created a directory of repairers, a digital tool available at www.environnementmauricie.com which lists the contact details of repairers throughout the region.
