Shot in barracks: guard had drugs in his blood

The preliminary result of the autopsy revealed a bullet through the chest as the cause of death. In addition, the 20-year-old had consumed cannabis, ecstasy and antidepressants in the weeks before, confirmed Erich Habitzl from the public prosecutor’s office in Wiener Neustadt on Friday in a report by ORF Lower Austria.

A shot report is still pending, the spokesman said. The same applies to the results of a survey by the State Criminal Police Office of Lower Austria on the possible motive for the recruit’s alleged attack on a superior. According to Habitzl, it will also depend on whether there will be a crime reconstruction or not. The 20-year-old was shot dead with a pistol by a 54-year-old non-commissioned officer.
