Around the world, many customers have discovered a new drink sold at Starbucks. Recipe ? Coffee and oat milk infused with olive oil. The blend has already been tasted in the United States, United Kingdom, etc. But some customers have already made severe criticism of this “Oleato”.

Indeed, this drink would have led many curious people… to the toilets as CNN reports. “Half the team tried it yesterday and a few ended up…needing to use the toilet quickly, if you know what I mean,” an employee of the American brand testified on the Starbucks Reddit page. How to explain this phenomenon ? This undesirable effect would be the consequence of the mixture between caffeine and olive oil.

It stimulates the intestines

Asked by the American site, Erin Palinski-Wade ensures that the amount of fat in this drink is higher than that of certain meals. “If you combine a high fat content in a meal or in a drink with coffee, which already stimulates the intestines. This combination can cause cramps. It can lead to increased mobility in the colon and therefore have this laxative effect“, summarizes the nutritionist. Before adding: “Meals rich in fat take longer to digest than liquid olive oil, which will reach the digestive tract more quickly”.

If for her, this new drink is not going to make “somebody physically ill from the point of view of having a negative impact on health” it can cause this “uncomfortable feeling of having to go to the bathroom or potentially Cramps”.
