The Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) named Sidoarjo Regent Ahmad Muhdlor Ali as the new suspect in the alleged corruption case of cutting and receiving money at BPPD (MI/Heri)

The Corruption Eradication COMMISSION (KPK) named Sidoarjo Regent Ahmad Muhdlor Ali as a new suspect in the alleged corruption case of withholding and receiving money at the Regional Tax Service Agency (BPPD) of Sidoarjo Regency.

“However, we confirmed upon media inquiries that it is true that the person concerned (the suspect) served as regent in Sidoarjo Regency for the period 2021 to now,” said acting spokesperson (Plt) for Corruption Eradication Commission Ali Fikri in a written statement, Tuesday (16/4).

Ali explained that the application of Muhdlor as a suspect was carried out after investigators had studied the case and examined a number of witnesses. There is evidence that also explains that the Regent of Sidoarjo was involved in this case.

“The investigative team then discovered the role and involvement of other parties who participated in the alleged corruption in the form of withholding and receiving money within the Sidoarjo Regency Government BPPD,” said Ali.

Muhdlor is believed to have enjoyed the money related to this case. The Corruption Eradication Committee ensures that it will provide further information regarding the development of this case later.

“We will convey developments in handling this case in stages to the public,” said Ali.

Head of BPPD Sidoarjo Ari Suryono and Head of General and Civil Service Subdivision of BPPD Sidoarjo Siska Wati were first suspects in this case. Siska was caught by the Corruption Eradication Committee with IDR 69.9 million nearby.

The money is related to alleged corruption in the form of withholding and receiving money at BPPD Sidoarjo Regency. He was arrested when he was about to receive the money.

The Rp. 69.9 million in funds confiscated by investigators was only a small portion of the total money Siska had received. He is estimated to have received Rp. 2.7 billion, and will carry out this dirty game throughout 2023. In this case, Siska is suspected of having unilaterally cut incentive funds for some of the state civil servants (ASN) in Sidoarjo Regency.

Siska also informed a number of ASNs about the funding cuts orally. He also asked civil servants not to discuss this dirty game in WhatsApp conversations. (Z-3)
