The German company Siemens Energy denied the information about official agreements with the government of Nicolás Maduro for the recovery of the National Electric System (SEN) in the country.
Through a statement, the company confirmed that for the moment there has been no rapprochement with the Chavista administration, as it stated for Bloomberg the commercial manager of Siemens in Venezuela, Eric Soto.
Despite this, the international company expressed its desire to collaborate for this purpose, always within the legal framework of sanctions.
«Siemens Energy is willing to collaborate with the reconstruction of the country’s electrical system, always within the legal framework and the necessary authorizations due to sanctions. To date, we have not had conversations or agreements for any particular case,” reads the document sent by the Siemens communications coordinator for Venezuela and Colombia, Eliana Rivera Giraldo, in response to a query made by the media Runrunes.
Eric Soto on agreements with Siemens
At the end of August, Soto assured in conversations with Bloomberg that the German company had signed contracts with the Maduro government to work on the gas and diesel generation facilities that serve Caracas and to repair the plants that supply electricity to the oil industry infrastructure.
Given this, the news agency published an article assuring that, despite the economic sanctions on the Maduro administration by the United States, the Treasury Department had granted two licenses to Siemens to carry out the corresponding work in electrical matters.
