Today, Wednesday (10th), it will be mostly sunny across the country, and the highest daytime temperature will rise to 26 degrees. The Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that the country would be generally sunny, with daytime temperatures likely to rise above 25 degrees in many places, centering on the inland, and that the temperature difference between day and night would be large by 15 to 20 degrees.

The lowest temperature in the morning will be between 7 and 15 degrees, and the highest during the day will be between 19 and 26 degrees. The concentration of fine dust is expected to be ‘bad’ in Incheon and ‘normal’ in other regions due to the residual fine dust in the western region. There may be sea fog in the West Sea, so vessels sailing or fishing should pay attention to maritime safety.

today’s healthIn case of infection with Helicobacter pylori (hereafter Helicobacter pylori), the latest research results suggest that active eradication treatment should be performed to prevent gastric cancer. In patients who received eradication treatment, the risk of gastric cancer was reduced by half.

Helicobacter pylori, which normally parasitizes between the gastric mucosa and mucus, usually has no symptoms even after infection, but some develop into mild indigestion, acute gastritis, chronic active gastritis, erosion, gastric ulcer, and gastric cancer.

Furthermore, it is reported that patients who have progressed to chronic gastritis due to Helicobacter pylori infection have a 3 to 6 times higher risk of gastric cancer than the general population.

A recent study investigated the effect of Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy on the incidence of noncardia gastric adenocarcinoma (NCGA), a subtype of gastric cancer. According to this, a cohort study was conducted on 716,567 people who were tested or treated for Helicobacter pylori at the Kaiser Permanente Line California Institute between 1997 and 2015.

As a result, the risk of gastric cancer for those who were positive for Helicobacter pylori infection and did not receive eradication treatment was 6.07, more than twice as high as those who underwent eradication treatment (2.68).

As time passed, the risk decreased significantly. The risk of non-myocardial cancer in persons who underwent Helicobacter pylori eradication treatment was reduced by 5% in less than 8 years and by 63% in more than 8 years.

The research team explained, “Helicobacter pylori eradication treatment significantly reduced the incidence of gastric cancer,” and “7 to 10 years after treatment, the risk of gastric cancer was lower than that of uninfected individuals.”

The results, which evaluated the effectiveness of Helicobacter pylori eradication treatment, were published in the latest issue of the international journal ‘Gastroenterology’.
