Signing of a new memorandum of understanding between ANSES and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences | handles

Given their many common areas of expertise, ANSES and CAAS have already collaborated in the past. In December 2010, a first memorandum of understanding was signed between the two organisations, for a period of five years. This cooperation focused in particular on infectious bursitis in poultry, Campylobacter and antibiotic resistance.

The memorandum of understanding signed today aims to improve scientific and technical cooperation between the two organisations, within the framework of their respective missions and areas of activity, while respecting their independence. In particular, this involves implementing joint research and risk assessment activities, exchanging know-how and technical knowledge, in the areas of:

  • food security and zoonoses;
  • animal health and welfare;
  • plant health;
  • antibiotic resistance;
  • veterinary drug residue monitoring;
  • water quality;
  • ecotoxicology.

A long-standing collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences

The collaboration between ANSES and CAAS goes back a long way, since the ANSES laboratory in Ploufragan-Plouzané and the Harbin Veterinary Research Institute of CAAS worked together from 1998 to 2001 on a project relating to the infectious bursitis in poultry.

The animal health laboratory carried out work with the Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute of CAAS in 2008 on toxoplasma and foot-and-mouth disease. Developments could now concern diseases transmitted by ticks.

The plant health laboratory and the Plant Protection Institute of the CAAS were also brought to collaborate for occasional exchanges of insects and in particular during an insect collection mission in China carried out in June and July. 2011.

Finally, the rabies and wildlife laboratory in Nancy participated in the training of CAAS personnel on rabies antibody serology in domestic animals and/or wildlife.
