Silent ASIC for Ethereum mining unveiled – 65Mhash/s with only 30W consumption for $1449

The Jasminer X4 Etchash Brick device, designed for mining Ethereum and similar cryptocurrencies, went on sale. Unlike most ASIC systems, this device does not have a noisy active cooling system, and the 3D TSV Jasminer X4 chip from Sunlune Technology consumes only up to 30 watts, combining a processor and memory.

With a chip size of about 45 × 45 mm, the die area is 678 mm². On board there are 5 GB of memory with a bandwidth of up to 1 TB / s. The performance of Jasminer X4 Etchash Brick is up to 65Mhash/s when working with Ethereum, and the power consumption does not exceed 23W. The Radeon RX 6800 graphics card delivers about the same, but at 170 watts.

It is possible that in four months the Proof-of-Stake model will be launched on the Ethereum network, in which mining will become unprofitable, but Jasminer X4 has several fallback options for this case. Supporting the popular Ethash and Etchash algorithms, the device can work with a wide range of cryptocurrencies: Ethereum Classic (ETC), Ethereum (ETH), Metaverse ETP (ETP), Expanse (EXP), Pirl (PIRL), DubaiCoin (DBIX), RESOC, EtherGem (EGEM), Ellaism (ELLA), Atheios (ATH), MixMarvel (MIX), Callisto (CLO), Mother of All Chains (MOAC), Ether-1 (ETHO) and EthereumX (ETX). Ethereum remains the most profitable and reliable of the list right now.

On the distributor’s website Jingle Mining the new device sells for $1449. At current cryptocurrency rates, it will bring about $ 2.95 per day, that is, it will pay off in more than 500 days – but provided that the event The Merge on the Ethereum network, with which the transition from the Proof-of-Work (PoW) model to Proof-of-Stake (PoS) is expected, will be once again postponed. Otherwise, the payback period risks doubling.

With dimensions of 257 × 100 × 200 mm, the device weighs 4.8 kg – you can easily make the whole room like this, especially since it only needs an Ethernet connection and a socket to work. The ASIC also features an attractive design in the spirit of the Sony PlayStation 2.
