The Ministry of Education, through the Education Quality Agency, released the results of the Simce 2023 test, which revealed levels similar to those before the Covid-19 pandemic.

In Mathematics there was an increase of 9 points in 4th grade at the national level, becoming the largest increase obtained in the last 10 years. Thus, between the last two measurements, Mathematics in 4th grade went from 250 points of national average score to 259 points, an increase that outlines a path of improvement at the country level.

Although these results are encouraging, a gender gap continues to be observed that challenges the educational system. Women and men increase their average scores, but the gap remains. 4th grade students reach an average score of 253 points, while their male peers reach 265 points, with a significant increase of 8 and 10 points respectively.

The low and medium-low socioeconomic groups are the ones that increase their average scores the most, increasing their scores by 9 points in both groups.os.

In relation to the measurement in 2022, the average score in middle II increased by 5 points, reaching 257 points of the national average score. Although the increase is positive news, the gender gap increases at this educational level, since men have an average score of 262 points while women women reach 251 points.

Reading Results

The results in Reading in 4th grade and in middle II show an average increase of 5 points, although not statistically significant, and at both levels the gaps in favor of women remain. In the case of 4th grade, women obtain an average score of 275 points, while men obtain 269 points. In medium II, women obtain an average score of 255 points, and men 242 points.

Local Public Education Services, on average, increase their results in all subjects and levels. In 3 of the 4 results, the SLEP transferred during the years 2018, 2019 and 2020 exceed the increases in the municipal sector.
