It is a realization of the promise of the Head of State Félix Tshisekedi made to the Kimambaguist Christians on April 06, 2021, during the centenary of the Kimbanguist Church.
It’s Monday, April 3, 2023, two years later, the Head of State kept his word by signing an ordinance establishing April 6 as a public holiday.
« Ordinance Number 23/042 of March 30 fixing the list of legal holidays in the DRC. April 6: Simon Kimbangu and African Consciousness Day“, we read in the press release signed by Tina Salama, spokesperson for the Head of State.
Born on September 12, 1887, Simon Kimbangu received from God, on a certain April 6, 1921, the mission to free black people from the colonial yoke, the President of the Republic had declared in his speech on April 06, 2021 in Nkanga. For Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, he is a supporter of non-violence who was sentenced to death on October 14, 1951 by a Belgian special court.
A sentence which, recalled the Head of State, had been commuted to life. President Tshisekedi highlighted Prophet Kimbangu’s loyalty to his convictions. He did not flinch one iota during his thirty years of imprisonment.
