Simplification worked yesterday, April 22, 2022 at the Gulfstream Park track, the specimen passed the 1000 meters in 59’2 with Junior Alvarado riding.
The specimen finished the exercise with a 97’3 for the mile. “I’m very happy. The work was impressive. He did it very well, very easy,” Sano said. “Junior worked on the horse. He told me, ‘Your horse wins the Derby.'”
Simplification closed the Morning Line odds at 32/1, coming off a third-place finish in the Curlin Florida Derby on April 2. This is his second exercise ahead of the Derby, the first was on April 15, in which he passed the kilometer in 61’4.
Simplification ranks ninth in the Kentucky Derby leaderboard with 74 qualifying points, guaranteeing the Florida-bred colt a spot at the Churchill Battleground on May 7.
Before finishing third in the Florida Derby, Simplification won the mile Mucho Macho Man Stakes in convincing fashion and captured the Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) by 3 1/2 lengths.
“I am very proud of my horse. I know the race is strong, but my horse is working very well,” Sano said. “I want to win the race,” said Sano in an interview with the American media BloodHorse.
Simplification he will have another job next Friday and from there he will go to Kentucky. “One more job next Friday and then he’s off to Kentucky. When he’s in Kentucky he won’t work. He’ll just gallop,” Sano said.
