The Simulated Hospital of the Colombian institution was for a month the center for the development of skills in patient care for 14 medical students

“A trend in the academic environment is the acquisition of knowledge in simulation spaces, that is to say that a student begins from the first semesters to develop skills in patient management in scenarios that are as close to reality as possible, therefore, the Simulated Hospital was the perfect space for the 14 medical students who went to Bogotá, Colombia at the end of May to live an international experience at the Universidad de la Sabana”.

This was announced by Dr. Manuel Rodríguez Vudoyra, Academic Secretary of the Dean of Medical Sciences, adding that the Faculty Led program lasted one month and with this period, university students have the opportunity to advance subjects from their regular period .

He explained that the areas of knowledge that had to do with the different activities carried out in the Simulated Hospital were Psychiatry, Gynecology or Cardiology, testing their theoretical learning.

“Something that is important in the Faculty is that although it is a very short period, there is an experience and academic immersion. We would arrive at the University in the morning so that the young people could take their classes, and in the afternoon we would do some cultural activity”, he expressed.

Among the places they visited are the viewpoint called La Calera, the center, the Botero and Gold Museums, they tasted the gastronomy, they went up to the Monserrate viewpoint, which is located inside a monastery located on top of a mountain, they visited the Salt Cathedral, a church built inside what was a salt mine. In addition to immersing yourself in the folklore of Colombia.

In this regard, Dr. Vudoyra shared that they generally traveled in a group, always maintaining a healthy environment and fun.

“This experience broadens the global perspective of the students, as well as learning to live with people of another nationality, with professors with academic experience and, above all, the appreciation of your own nationality by not having the same gastronomy and culture”, he highlighted.

Finally, Dr. Rodríguez Vudoyra invited those who have not had the opportunity to live an international experience to dare to take a short program such as the Faculty Led, which are for shorter periods and in a group but they will not care. a global perspective that will mark a differentiator in your curriculum.
