Singapore to ban ‘The Kashmir Files’ film

Singapore: Bollywood movie ‘The Kashmir Files’ banned in Singapore The action was taken on the pretext that the film, which portrays Muslims in a unilateral manner, violates the religious harmony in the country.

It was banned by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) under the Singapore Ministry of Communications. The IMDA said the decision was taken following discussions with the Ministries of Home Affairs, Culture and Youth.

The ministries have found that the film portrays the ongoing conflict in Kashmir as persecuting Hindus and portrays Muslims in a unilateral manner. The IMDA says this is a violation of film classification rules.

The Film Classification Guidelines state that films that are racially insulting to any religious or social group in Singapore will not be allowed on screen.
