Singer Hilary Duff had enough of fame: “Had to pull the plug”

owes her breakthrough Hilary Duff (34) of the Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire. But then all the fame became too much for her.

“When I was 18, I gave it all up. I had just finished a tour. I was in Europe and following the last concert I said ‘enough’,” she tells Grazia magazine.

“I didn’t know how to cook or operate a washing machine. I didn’t even know what I liked and didn’t like. I didn’t plan my days and I was never alone,” Duff said.

“I had a wonderful career, but I was no longer satisfied. My friends were doing normal things for that age, but I was living in this bubble and I felt terrible.”

She was under a lot of pressure and took a two-year sabbatical. “I had to pull the plug to understand who I was, what I really wanted and learn how to live alone.”
