Singer R. Kelly placed in solitary confinement

After being sentenced to 30 years in prison for sex trafficking of young people, American singer R. Kelly was placed in solitary confinement on Friday.

However, his lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean, says he is not suicidal.

The 55-year-old man would have been isolated in the prison where he is being held since he is known, reports Ms. Bonjean, following talking with prosecutors.

“It’s a punishment for being famous and it’s horrible. To put someone in solitary confinement with these conditions is cruel and unusual when the person does not need it,” she believes.

Found guilty in September 2021, the ex-star was sentenced on Wednesday.
