A shortage of personnel causes delicate situations in the operating theaters of Sion.
This time it’s not because of the Covid; it is a lack of instrumentalists that risks causing the postponement of several non-urgent operations at the Hôpital du Valais, in Sion. “The coming period promises to be delicate”, announces the institution in a press release relayed by “Le Nouvelliste”. The situation is not unprecedented, adds its acting director. “The reservoir of specialized personnel is not huge. A few absences due to illness and work flows become tense, especially during the summer vacation period, ”he explains in the valais daily. He specifies that the pandemic has precipitated a number of professional reorientations, in an already limited employment sector.
An order of priorities is therefore established each morning to estimate whether the planned program is applicable or not depending on the staff present.
