The situation in northern Kosovo remains tense following Kosovan police tried to escort the newly elected mayors to their municipal offices on Friday and disgruntled citizens prevented them from doing so. Clashes broke out between the police and these people. About a dozen people were injured. The NATO-led troops in Kosovo increased their presence in the communities in the north on Monday and prepared to disperse demonstrations.
