During the Christmas period, the National Police recorded four deaths resulting from 36 road accidents, seven crimes of homicide, and the Civil Protection and Fire Service (SPCB), in the same period, recorded five deaths, divided between drowningsments, electrical discharge and suicide. This is the first assessment of “Operation Okuliandja” at country level

Presented on the afternoon of December 25th, by PNA spokesperson, Orlando Bernardo, the first data from the operation called “Okuliandja”, referring to the 24th and 25th of December, report the occurrence of 36 aviation accidents, four deaths , 15 injured, 13 people were run over and seven collisions between vehicles.

Of the total number of accidents, four occurred because the driver was under the influence of alcohol, 20 resulted from speeding, 12 from irregular overtaking and non-compliance with the rules of the Highway Code.

During this period, there is an issue that is very important, according to the spokesperson, which results from the environments that are created within the family, and here the Civil Protection and Fire Service Service is called to intervene, which during Christmas recorded 26 incidents, in All country. “There were, among others, seven fires, four road obstructions, four house collapses. There were a total of five deaths, two from drowning, two from electrical shocks and one from suicide”, he highlighted.

Commissioner Orlando Bernardo characterized the social environment in terms of security as calm. The provinces of Luanda, Uíge and Huambo recorded the highest crime rate, also highlighting the record of seven homicides, 39 attacks on physical integrity, 30 robberies and 58 thefts. At this time of year, theft and robbery crimes are more frequent, but with the presence of the Police it did not have as much impact, according to Orlando Bernardo.

Six crimes were committed using firearms, none of which were homicides, two attacks on physical integrity, one death threat and three robberies. Of these, four occurred in residences. The bodies assigned to the Ministry of the Interior, engaged in the “Okuliandja” operation, carried out during the abovementioned period, throughout the country, the arrest of a total of 122 citizens involved in crimes of different nature, the dismantling of five groups of criminals, as well as such as the seizure of 10 firearms, 10 vehicles, 42 motorcycles, eight cell phones and 500 liters of fuel.

The director of Operations and Public Security of the National Police, Orlando Bernardo, within the scope of territorial integrity security, highlighted the detention of 140 citizens by members of the Foreign Migration Service (SME), for violating borders, in the provinces of Luanda, Cabinda and Lunda-Norte.

For the PNA spokesperson, in terms of crime, 162 crimes were recorded, which allowed 96 to be clarified, corresponding to 67% of police intervention in the aforementioned crimes and the commitment of all personnel to ensure Christmas, namely the passage of December 24th to 25th.

Police prevent the smuggling of more than 2 thousand liters of fuel

The personnel of the Provincial Command of Lunda-Norte, posted at the Customs Fiscal Unit (UFA), prevented, on the 22nd and 23rd of December, the departure of a total of 2,075 liters of diesel from the country, due to presumed smuggling, at the customs tax posts of the Nachiri and Marco-5, in the municipalities of Chitato and Cambulo.

The seizure of the aforementioned product was achieved during Operation “Okuliandja”, when law enforcement officers on patrol duty surprised the alleged smugglers, aboard 13 KTM motorcycles, transporting 83 25-liter drums, totaling 2,075 liters of diesel, which were destined for the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo. After noticing the police presence, the suspects fled and the seized assets were sent to the competent bodies for the necessary procedures.
