Ski accident: Plaintiff wants $3.3 million from Paltrow

At the conclusion of the civil suit against Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow over a skiing accident, the plaintiff has sought more than three million dollars in damages from the actress. Attorney for 76-year-old Terry Sanderson said today in a court in Park City, Utah, that a jury should award his client nearly $3.3 million for “permanent brain damage.”

Attorney Lawrence Buhler said the retired optometrist was curtailed in his “golden years” because of the accident Paltrow caused. Sanderson would be entitled to $33 for every waking hour from the accident in 2016 until his death in a theoretical 10 years. That is “$3.276 million for the 17 years that Terry has to live with this permanent brain damage”.

Paltrow’s attorney Stephen Owens dismissed the claim in his closing argument. As in the past few days, the lawyer said it was not Paltrow who hit Sanderson in the accident in the Rocky Mountains. Rather, Sanderson drove into the actress.

Sanderson sued Paltrow in 2019. The actress has responded with a counterclaim. The Oscar winner (“Shakespeare in Love”) is demanding a token dollar in damages and reimbursement of her legal fees. A jury must decide.
