Ski legend Vonn got a new knee

Since retiring five years ago, Lindsey Vonn has wanted a new knee. Now she finally got it. The American showed glimpses of the day of the operation on Instagram. During her active career, Vonn repeatedly suffered from problems with her knee and numerous injuries repeatedly set her back.

A few weeks ago, the former ski queen declared in an interview with “Sport Bild” that she would “never be pain-free again in my life.” “In my right knee, bone meets bone. I’ve had surgeries every 12 to 14 months so I can continue to function.”

Now the 39-year-old announced on Instagram: “I had my knee replaced. The operation went very well. More details will follow soon.” One of the people who commented under her post was Aksel Lund Svindal. The Norwegian wrote: “I need to know more about it:” He was also always affected by knee injuries.

Vonn won 82 World Cup races, four major crystal globes, one Olympic gold medal and two world championship titles in her career. She officially retired from ski racing on February 10, 2019.
