With the arrival of 2024, many companies are giving their employees time off or implementing recess. In this context, concerns about invasions, theft and assaults are growing, as some entrepreneurs neglect to invest in appropriate security equipment to protect their businesses.

The actions of criminals constituted one of the main sources of damage to commerce, according to Brazilian Loss Prevention Association (Abrappe). The entity carries out an annual survey to measure the sector’s losses due to theft, robbery and also due to operational problems. The most recent data shows an annual loss of R$24 billion due to these factors.

The increase in urban violence is a phenomenon observed throughout the national territory. According to the latest edition of Brazilian Public Security Yearbookreleased in 2022, the rate of theft and robberies at commercial establishments grew 6.5% in the last year.

Given this scenario, there are strategies available to reinforce protection, ensuring the integrity of establishments.

It is important to highlight that, currently, security technologies have become more accessible, democratizing access not only for large corporations, but also for micro and small companies. These technological advances provide options with monitoring systems, allowing for more agile responses to incidents.

An alternative is to invest in intrusion alarms. These systems, although simple in operation, prove useful. Furthermore, they offer the possibility of integration with closed circuit television (CCTV) systems, which allows those responsible for monitoring to have management and control, even remotely, via the internet.

It is important for companies to invest in security. Today, equipment that records video and audio is more modern. Options that use artificial intelligence are more accessible. The latest generation of cameras and recorders (NVR and DVR) has a similar price to traditional cameras. The simplest equipment is already capable of detecting people and vehicles through algorithms, even on lines considered entry.

“The strategic combination of sound and light alarm systems, combined with the implementation of AI-powered monitoring cameras, offers a comprehensive defense against threats during periods of reduced business activity. By adopting these proactive measures, SMEs can guarantee the integrity of their establishments, allowing owners to enjoy the environment with peace of mind”, explains Ronney Amorim, Product Manager at Hikvision.
