For this Tuesday, July 25, there is yellow alert for snow in the Neuquén, Río Negro and Chubut mountains. This was reported by the National Meteorological Service (SMN). For Mendoza, there is a zonda wind warning.
The SMN detailed the hours and areas where the yellow alert will govern this Tuesday:
Huiliches Mountain Range – Lácar Mountain Range – South of Aluminé (Junín de los Andes, San Martín de los Andes and Aluminé).The area will be affected by persistent snowfall, some locally heavy. Values between 20 and 35 cm are estimated, and may be exceeded in a timely manner. There is an alert for Tuesday morning.
The Lakes (Villa La Angostura and surroundings): The area will be affected by persistent snowfall, some locally heavy. Values between 20 and 35 cm are estimated, and may be exceeded in a timely manner. The warning is for early morning and Tuesday morning.
Bariloche – Pilcaniyeu Mountain Range – Ñorquinco Mountain Range: The area will be affected by persistent snowfall, some locally heavy. Values between 20 and 35 cm are estimated, and may be exceeded in a timely manner. The warning is for early morning and Tuesday morning.
Alert for snow in Chubut and zonda wind in Mendoza
Cushamen mountain range (north of Chubut): The area will be affected by persistent snowfall, some locally heavy. Values between 20 and 35 cm are estimated, and may be exceeded in a timely manner. There is an alert for early morning and Tuesday morning.
Lower area of Malargüe (Mendoza): The area will be affected by zonda wind, with speeds between 35 and 45 km/h and gusts that can reach 80 km/h. This phenomenon can cause a significant reduction in visibility, a sudden increase in temperatures and conditions of low relative humidity. The warning is for Tuesday afternoon.
What does the yellow alert mean?
From the SMN they explained the different alert levels. Yellow indicates “possible weather phenomena with capacity for damage and risk of momentary interruption of daily activities”. While orange, it marks that “dangerous meteorological phenomena for society, life, property and the environment are expected.”
Cold air with rain and snowfall in Neuquén and Río Negro
From the AIC, they indicated that during Monday and Tuesday a “cold front with snowfall and rain in the Cordillera, Andean Zone, Lagos and the Agrio river basin».
They pointed out that conditions in the region are improving, for el wednesday july 26«con gradual rise in temperature in Cordillera, Valleys, Meseta and Coast».
On Saturday (July 29), “enter a front rain system in the Cordillera, Andean Zone, Limay river basin and Collón Cura. «Persistent periods of rain and showers until Monday the 31st».
