Jan Scherrer starts the halfpipe season successfully. The Olympic bronze medalist climbed on the 2nd step of the podium during the 1st stage of the Winter World Cup at Copper Mountain.

Scherrer lost to Australian Scotty James, although the judges awarded him an excellent score of 96.25 points. James, 2nd in February in the Olympic pipe behind Japanese Ayumu Hirano and ahead of Scherrer, scored 99.00 points, having already reached 97.00 points in the 1st run.

Among the women, Isabelle Lötscher, 18, narrowly missed the final by finishing 9th for 2.25 points.
